Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Sunday, both at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home .

Mrs. Paul was born Dec. 8, 1930, the daughter of Robert “Bobby” Sandidge and Lizzie Pecanty Sandidge.

She attended elementary school in Acme, La., and graduated from Monterey High School. In 1951, Adella married Raymond T. Paul. She received her bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from Northeast Louisiana State College in 1960. She was a valued teacher in the Concordia Parish school system for 37 years, with her last 26 years at Monterey High School, retiring in 1989. In 1973, she was inducted into the Louisiana 4-H 100 Years Hall of Fame for her extensive contributions to Concordia Parish 4-H.

Adella was a resident of Acme and a lifelong active member of New Era Baptist Church where she was honored in 2010 for 33 years of service as recording secretary for the church. After retiring from Monterey High School, she was an active member and officer in the Black River Garden Club, while enjoying traveling with her special friend, Bernice White, to the Holy Land and a number of other domestic and international destinations.

In 1990, Adella served as the coordinator for the Cultural Exchange Event for the town of Acme in Concordia Parish with the town of Bordelonville, La., in Avoyelles Parish.

Adella served as a mentor for students with the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service in Concordia Parish and was known for her regular visits to “the shut-ins” in the community and nursing homes — in addition to sending cards of encouragement to family, friends and church members.

Ephesians 6:7-8 says, “Rendering service with a good will as to the Lord, and not to man. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not man.” Not only did Adella serve the church and community, she served the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years and her parents.

Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Paul Saizon and Joyce Paul, both of Baton Rouge; one brother, Bobby Joe Sandidge and wife, Ann; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Laborde and husband, Fred, of Baton Rouge and Paige Saizon of New Orleans; her first unborn great-granddaughter; niece, Amy Livers and husband, Nick; nephew, Jeremy Sandidge and wife, Emily; and a number of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will remember her kind deeds throughout the years.
