VIDALIA — The Concordia Parish Police Jury voted Monday to send a letter to a local oil field company seeking answers for what will be done to repair a road.
The jury alleges that D&D Drilling caused approximately $79,000 in damage to Deadning Road during drilling operations earlier this year, and was not bonded against the damage as is required by the parish.
“This letter is to get some answers about what they are going to do about it,” Police Jury Melvin Ferrington said.
The letter approved Monday is the second such correspondence the jury has approved. The first was sent in August, and was represented at that time as an effort to keep the matter out of court.
Ferrington said he plans to meet with the company’s attorney and discuss what needs to happen moving forward.
In other news:
-The jury approved the payment of $129,304 to Terry Trane Services for work on the parish courthouse’s air-conditioning systems.
“Back in the summer when it was really hot, the jury had to declare an emergency on the air conditioning because it was all going out,” Ferrington said. “Terry Services quoted us this work, and they are all completed with it, and we are just paying that invoice.”
-The jury approved a payment of $34,416.66 to Jordan, Kaiser and Sessions for engineering services connected with the Brushy Bayou drainage study.
The funds will be reimbursed to the jury by a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Ferrington said.
