VIDALIA — The scene was jubilant at the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center Saturday night as Concordia Parish Sheriff Kenneth Hedrick and his supporters celebrated his landslide re-election victory.

With all precincts reporting, the unofficial results showed Hedrick received 4,336 votes to Payne Scott’s 1,196 votes.

“I’m just grateful that I was elected and proud to be here,” Hedrick said.

Last election, Hedrick garnered approximately 52 percent of the vote. This time, Hedrick received 78 percent of the vote, giving him his second term as sheriff.

“They must have liked something we did,” Hedrick said.

Scott congratulated Hedrick and said he appreciated all of his supporters.

“We ran a clean campaign and I’m proud of them,” Scott said.

Hedrick said he plans on going to church and resting today, but he’ll be back in the office on Monday to continue his work as the parish’s sheriff.

“I appreciate my family and my friends and the people of Concordia Parish,” Hedrick said. “I’m going to keep doing my job protecting the people of Concordia Parish.”
