VIDALIA — In light of frightful weather expected Saturday, the City of Vidalia has moved Halloween trick-or-treating to today.

Trick-or-treating hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Vidalia spokeswoman Sheri Rabb said.

“(Mayor Hyram Copeland) also urges everyone to stay off the streets Saturday night if the weather turns as bad as is expected,” Rabb said.

The City of Natchez decided Wednesday to move Natchez’s Halloween observance to Friday because thunderstorms expected on Halloween could pose safety risks for trick-or-treaters.

The mayor’s administrative assistant Temple Hendricks said parents with small children had requested the city move the observance of Halloween to today.

The Natchez Downtown Development Association also rescheduled its annual Little Feet Trick or Treat event for today. Main and Franklin streets between Union and Pearl streets will be closed to traffic from 5 to 7 p.m. for children in costumes to visit area downtown stores for trick-or-treating. Children under 12 years-old must be accompanied by an adult.
