Good news shines, despite weather

Despite some much-needed wet weather which tried hard to dampen some outside event — including Halloween — last week, our community still managed to let the good news shine through. As is our Monday morning tradition, today we look back at some of the good news highlights from our community last week including:
•While it may have seemed a bit scary at times as tornado warning sirens blared, all and all, the area received a blessing in the rain that fell last week.
•Schools and churches all across the area celebrated the season with seasonal festivals and other Halloween fun last week. Those events take a great deal of planning, preparation and money, and we know all participants had a good time. We applaud all those who worked hard to make those events possible.
•The Humana Foundation announced it plans to award a $200,000 grant to an Adams County non-profit group that is using a social support network to promote community health in our area. The deadline for applications is Friday. Good luck to all applying.
•Along with plenty of trick-or-treat sweets, the Miss-Lou also boasted a spicy taste last weekend. The Rotary Club of Natchez hosted its annual Chili Cook-Off, which benefitted the Natchez Children’s Home Services. While the competition for which team made the best chili was fierce, it was evident that all who attended were in good spirits. We congratulate the Callon Petroleum team for winning over judges with their chili.
As we begin another busy week in the Miss-Lou — and welcome a new month — we encourage everyone to maintain last week’s festive, and successful spirit.
