NATCHEZ — Services for Carl Edward “Wild Man” Stewart, 66, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at Hospice Ministries in Jackson, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Baptist Church with the Rev. Wilsonni Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Stewart was born April 26, 1949, the son of Alton McDaniel and Orange Lee Bailey-Bruce and the adopted son of Ernest and Octavia Stewart.
He was formerly employed by General Motors Engine Plant Coordination. He was retired.
Carl was a member of St. Peter Baptist Church where he served as an usher.
He was also a member of the N.A.A.C.P., American Lung Association of Mississippi, board member of Edna B. and Joyce Fay Washington Breast Cancer Foundation, Natchez Association for the Preservation of Afro-American Culture Museum (NAPAC), Wharlist Jackson Elks Lodge and Jackson State University Alumni Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include one daughter, Melinda Stewart-McClellan and husband, Matthew, of Sterling Heights, Mich.; two grandchildren, Nicholas Stewart McClellan and Paige Evelyn McClellan of Sterling Heights; two brothers, James Dunbar and wife, Betty, and Ernest Stewart and wife, Debra, all of Detroit; one sister, Yolanda McDaniel of River Rouge, Mich.; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
