NATCHEZ — Services for Mamie Lee “Madea” Washington, 84, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. LeRoy White officiating.11_06 MamieLWashington obitpic

Burial will follow at the Mount Plain Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Washington was born March 15, 1931, in Franklin County, the daughter of Marie Swayze and Wiley Norman.

She was a member of Mount Plain Baptist Church and served as president of the usher board.

Mrs. Washington was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two children; two sisters, Marjorie Swayze and Mildred Martin; and two brothers, Clark D. Swayze and Eddie Swayze.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Chatman, Pearl Washington and Gradye Wallace and husband, Charles; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Doris Holmes and Georgia Dobbins, both of Natchez, Bimkubwa Takayama, Dazie Swayze and Sarah Swayze, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one brother, Riley Swayze and wife, Clara, of Cedar Rapids; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
