Congrats to Chamber honorees

Recognition by one’s peers is among the highest forms of honor someone can receive.

Tuesday night members of the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce took time out of their busy schedules to recognize and celebrate a few of the organization’s members who rise above the crowd and make a huge impact through their work and their volunteerism.

Benny Jeansonne, a local CPA and partner at Silas Simmons LLP, was honored with the Chamber’s Man of the Year award. Jeansonne, along with his generous wife, have been faithful volunteers and excellent community members for years and years. From economic development endeavors to work at Cathedral School, Jeansonne’s involvement into Natchez is deep — and greatly appreciated.

Like Jeansonne, Mary Lessley, the Chamber’s Woman of the Year, also has a heart for volunteerism. Most recently, she’s been among the leaders of the Natchez Festival of Music efforts and for her work she’s most deserving of honor.

Natchez Coffee Company and its owner Sharon Browning were honored with the small business of the year award. For years and years, Natchez operated without a true coffee shop. Natchez Coffee was the first in the city and has become a fixture in the historic downtown.

Entergy, the folks who seem to literally power everything in the community, were honored as the large business of the year. Entergy and its staff are heavily invested into Natchez and most recently stepped up with a large donation for the city’s upcoming 2016 tricentennial celebration.
