Renewal of Ferriday 11.5-mill tax passes

FERRIDAY — Ferriday voters overwhelmingly passed the renewal of a tax dedicated to roads and drainage in the city limits.

Unofficial results show that 335 people or 67.81 percent of the voters voted to renew the 11.5-mill tax residents are already paying for the construction, paving and improvement of streets, road and drainage. Of the ballots cast, 159 votes were cast against the measure.

With passage, 15-year bonds for $1.28 million will be issued. The bonds will accrue interest at 8 percent.
