BROOKHAVEN — West Lincoln High School’s Hanna Moak torched Cathedral High School to the tune of a game-high 25 points as the Lady Bears defeated the Lady Green Wave 57-38 Monday night.
Skylar Hall poured in 12 points and Jana Case chipped in with seven points for MHSAA Class 2A West Lincoln.
“We’re missing a couple of key players who are out of town. We just weren’t mentally sharp,” Lady Green Wave head coach Peter Arnold said. “The opportunities were there. We were just slow. They were cleaner and more efficient on offense than we were.”
And it showed on the scoreboard as the Lady Bears outscored the Lady Green Wave in each of the four quarters — 17 to 11 in the first quarter, 20 to 12 in the second, 10 to eight in the third, and 10 to seven in the fourth.
Elizabeth Smith led the Lady Green Wave with 14 points while Grayson Bryant finished with eight points and Carolina Kaiser added six points.
“We were just a half a second behind on every play, on offense and defense,” Arnold said. “The pass would be too late on offense. We were a half second behind on the steal on defense. They made seven three-pointers. They shot free throws well.”
Cathedral (1-1) will play again next Monday at 6 p.m. in its MAIS District 4-AAA opener at Brookhaven Academy.
