FERRIDAY — Services for Johnny Nelson, 66, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at his residence, will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Charles Minor officiating.

Burial will follow at the Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Nelson was born Feb. 3, 1949, in Natchez, the son of Mabel Nelson.

He was a welder.

Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Jolla Nelson; one son, Steven R. Nelson of Houston; one daughter, Janell Griffin and husband, James, of Clayton; three brothers-in-law, Daniel Jolla and wife, Jessie, George Jolla Jr., all of Ferriday, and David Jolla and wife, Lubertha, of Olympia, Wash.; three sisters-in-law, Willie Mae Delihue of Denver, Sally Chatman and Margaret Lawrence; a special friend, Alzenia King, all of Ferriday; and eight grandchildren.
