NATCHEZ — Services for Selma B. Fortenberry, 88, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at Crown Health and Rehab, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cliff Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Russell Waggoner officiating.

Burial will follow at Jersey Settlers Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Fortenberry was born Aug. 24, 1927, in McComb, the daughter of Hiram George Bennett and Dora Anna Belle Smith Bennett.

She was a charter member and lifetime accompanist at Cliff Temple Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Past Matron.

Mrs. Fortenberry was a lifetime piano teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William H. Fortenberry; one son, William H. “Billy” Fortenberry; and two brothers, Leonard Hiram Bennett and Jasper George Bennett.

Survivors include one son, Joe Kenneth Fortenberry of Natchez; two granddaughters, Jessica Berard Fortenberry Stubbs and husband, Nathan, of Natchez and Karen Michelle Fortenberry Nunnery and husband, Michael, of Baton Rouge; two great-granddaughters, Madison and Caroline Nunnery of Baton Rouge; two great-grandsons, Jack Henry and Jordan Stubbs of Natchez; a longtime special friend, Kay Jenkins of Natchez; and a number of longtime friends and neighbors.

Pallbearers will be Michael Nunnery, Nathan Stubbs, David Upton, Jerry Stroud, Randy Jordan and Douglas McIlwain.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Cliff Temple Baptist Church.

The family extends a special thank you to her caregivers at Crown Health and Rehab.
