NATCHEZ — Services for Geraldine Ellis Sewell, 70, of Natchez, who died Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Southwood Lodge Baptist Church with the Rev. Tracy Cusic officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. An Eastern Star ceremony will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the Masons.
Mrs. Sewell was born Oct. 21, 1945, in Adams County, the daughter of Charles Herbert Ellis Sr. and Alicia Washington Ellis.
She was baptized July 12, 1962, at 2 p.m., at Southwood Lodge Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her health failed.
She was joined in holy matrimony to Moses Sewell Jr. on June 18, 1978, and to this union one child was born.
Geraldine was a 1964 graduate of Sadie V. Thompson High School. She furthered her education at Alcorn State University School of Nursing, where she received her associate nursing degree. She worked for a number of years at Natchez Regional Medical Center, formerly Jefferson Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers, Charles H. Ellis, Quinton Ellis and Joseph Ellis.
Survivors include her devoted daughter, Kimbrely Angelethy and husband, Cedric; one son, Theo O. Sewell Sr.; three grandchildren, Cristian, Nodea and Theo Jr.; one sister, Betty J. Ellis Abrams and husband, Stephen, of Seattle; two brothers, Larry Darnell Ellis and wife, M. Elizabeth, of Houston and Glenn “Dudley” Ellis and wife, Sandy, of Atlanta; two uncles, Dan Washington Sr. and wife, Sue Willie, and Nathaniel Washington; five aunts, Eddie Odeal Fletcher, Shirley Brown, Velma Nelson and husband, Lennox, and Elna Washington, all of Natchez, and Dorothy Coleman of Rolling Fork; one goddaughter, Marilyn Harris McDonald and husband, Vernell; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
