NATCHEZ — Services for Susie Elousie “Sue Gal” Murphy Haywood, 73, of Natchez, who died Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Daughter of Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanford Cruel officiating.12_11 SusieEMHaywood obitpic

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the Natchez chapel and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Haywood was born Jan. 31, 1942, in Natchez, the daughter of Philip Murphy Sr. and JoAnna Murphy.

She was a member of the Edna Anderson Chapter No. 13 Order of Eastern Star, Star of Bethlehem Lodge No. 4 Good Samaritans and Daughter of Good Samaritans, Girl Scouts of America, a member of the committee planning her class reunion, a 1964 graduate of Alcorn State University with a bachelor’s degree, a graduate of Delta State University with a master’s degree and a graduate of Southern Mississippi with a master’s degree.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Freeman Haywood; and four brothers, Moses, Walter, J.D. (John) and Jesse (Lionel.)

Survivors include two sons, Keithon Haywood of Grenada and Kenneth Haywood and wife, April, of Lithonia, Ga.; five grandchildren, Satereon O’Bannon, Brandon Harris, Konrtine Haywood, Kandice Haywood and Zaria Haywood; one great-grandchild, Aniyah O’Bannon; one brother, Phillip Murphy Jr. of Washington, D.C.; one sister, Angie Reeves and husband, Emmanuel, of Cordova, Tenn.; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
