OLLA, La. — Services celebrating the life of Mary Selena Aycock Roberts, 93, who died peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2015, will be 10 a.m. today at Pine Hill Baptist Church in Olla, La., with the Rev. Denver McBroom and the Rev. George Farrington officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Shreveport, La.
Mrs. Roberts was born Oct. 3, 1922, in Holloway, La., the daughter of Benjamin and Ellen Crooks Aycock.
Selena lived in the Olla/Tullos area until February 2008, when she moved to Shreveport and made her residence at the Guest House Nursing Home where she was loved and will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fredric Alonzo “Lonnie” Roberts Sr.; one grandson, Jerry Roberts; one great-grandson, Robert Alonzo Frank; five brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include two sons, F.A. “Sonny” Robert Jr. and wife, Bobbie, of Clarks, La., and Carl Wendell Roberts and wife, Mary, of Stonewall, La.; one sister, Lillie McDougald of Olla; two sisters-in-law, Arzelia Aycock of Olla and Irene Aycock of Monroe, La.; seven grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons, Hardy Roberts, Graham Roberts, Tim Weglowski, Brandon Weglowski, Nick Peterman and Colson Thornton.
The family extends appreciation to the residents and staff of The Guest House for their love and compassion to her. Since moving there, she considered The Guest House as home and all of you as family. Thanks so much for everything you did.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a charity of choice.
