It was an honor serving as sheriff

Dear friends,

It will forever be a profound honor to have served our community as your Sheriff. From the moment I was elected in December 2009, I fought to protect the safety of the citizens of Adams County. Taking my responsibility as your leader in county law enforcement earnestly, I am proud of the dozens of improvements which I introduced and implemented, as well as the thousands of citizens I helped with good law enforcement by hiring well qualified employees, establishing an on staff Victims’ Rights Advocate, and strengthening the Natchez Adams County Metro Narcotics Unit.

I am also proud of being a good steward of county funds by saving our tax payers money and working within the budget given by the Adams County Board of Supervisors. In doing so I brought in as many modern advances to the office as possible within that budget such as digitalizing records, bonds through kiosk, and video visitation.

I have worked in law enforcement and for Adams County for over thirty years, and I plan to remain active in our community and to continue to advocate on behalf of victims. I will also continue to support the tremendous efforts of narcotics law enforcement, the Natchez Humane Society, the Adams County Child Advocacy Center, and Adams County Search and Rescue.

I sincerely appreciate all of your support for our record-breaking Sheriff Deputies rodeo fund raisers. Without your generous participation, we would not have been able to afford much of the needed equipment which is essential for our deputies to do their jobs to the fullest. Not only is our rodeo an important fundraiser, but it has become a tradition. I sincerely hope that you will continue to support this great event.

Once again, thank you for your support. It has been a pleasure to serve you. I look forward to seeing you in the community. In the interim, I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy and safe holiday season.

Sheriff Chuck Mayfield is the outgoing sheriff of Adams County.
