MONTEREY — Services for Betty Jo Moreland, 70, of Monterey, who died Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, in Monterey, will be 10 a.m. today at New Era Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Moore and the Rev. Dennis Baker officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mrs. Moreland was born March 2, 1945, in Jonesville, the daughter of O.J. Smith and Bessie Price Smith.

She was a faithful member of New Era Baptist Church. She also loved working in her yard and spending time with her family and grandsons.

Mrs. Moreland was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Virginia Gail White.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Kent Moreland; two daughters, Deidra Shively and husband, Cary, and Michelle Burley and husband, Theo Jr., all of Monterey; one son, Stephen Moreland and wife, Marcy, of Monterey; five brothers, A.J. Smith and wife, Evelyn, of Monterey, Harvey Smith and wife, Littie, Lavone Smith and wife, Vera, Carl Smith and Louis Smith and wife, Sue, all of Jonesville; brother-in-law, Darrel White of Jonesville; and eight grandchildren, Matt and Beau Shively, Duell, Connor and Derek Moreland and Brett, Reed and Trent Burley.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Matt, Beau, Duell, Connor, Derek, Brett, Reed and Trent.
