FAYETTE — Services for Sylvester “Pappy” Wallace Jr., 84, of Port Gibson, who died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, at his residence, will be noon Friday at Greater Faith Worship Center with the Rev. J.L. Hammitte officiating.

Burial will follow at Hickory Block United Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mr. Wallace was born Jan. 12, 1931, in Claiborne County, the son of Sylvester Wallace Sr. and Hennie Elizabeth Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Catherine Woodard-Wallace; two sisters, L.B. Runnels and Lizzie Wallace; and two brothers, Hubbard Wallace Sr. and David Wallace.

Survivors include eight sons, Paul Williams, Ray Anderson, Robert Scott, Sylvester Scott, Connie Scott, Darin Woodard, Fred Woodard and Carl Wallace; seven daughters, Juanita Gibson, Carla Wallace, Maybelle Gray, Christine Wallace, Gloria Jean Dorsey, Rose Bell and Kay Griffin; three brothers, M.L., James and Edward; four sisters, Thelma Rankin, Ora Lee Johnson, Ester Stalsworth and Lillie McClinton; 44 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
