Four candidates qualify for Natchez election

NATCHEZ — Four candidates qualified Tuesday to run in the upcoming Natchez elections.
In Ward 2, Tamathy Dunn-Franklin will seek the seat recently vacated by Rickey Gray and currently filled by interim alderwoman Mary Lee Toles.
In Ward 4, Jeremy Houston and Edwin White qualified for the seat currently held by Natchez High School Principal Tony Fields.
In Ward 5, Benjamin Davis qualified for the seat held by Mark Fortenbery.
The qualification period began Monday and will end March 10.
On Monday, Ward 4 Alderman Tony Fields qualified for mayor, and incumbent Ward 1 Alderwoman Joyce Arceneaux-Mathis and incumbent Ward 5 Alderman Mark Fortenbery qualified for reelection.
Billy Joe Frazier qualified for Ward 2 alderman.
Felicia Irving qualified for Ward 4 alderwoman.
Attorney Carmen Brooks qualified for municipal judge.
The partisan primaries will be May 10 and runoffs, if needed, will be May 24.
The general election will be June 7.
