GLOSTER — Services for Jesus Alvarez Ramirez, 89, of Vidalia, who died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Gloster with the Rev. Joseph Xavier officiating.
Burial will follow at the Floyd Family Cemetery near Gloster under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Ramirez was born Dec. 25, 1926, in Uvalde, Texas, the son of Juan G. Ramirez and Consuelo Alvarez Ramirez.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was also a retired salesman for Otasco and a member of Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidalia.
Mr. Ramirez was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Terral Juan Ramirez; one daughter, Deborah Darlene West; and two grandsons, Michael Ramirez and Cody Ramirez.
Survivors include one son, Rick Ramirez and wife, Kippy; one daughter, Donna R. Whetstone; seven grandchildren, Katherine West, Connie Whittington and husband, Brad, Kelli Martin and husband, Derek, Marlowe Ramirez, Eileen Causey and husband, Will, Glen Whetstone Jr. and wife, Wendy, and Trinity Vanderford and husband, Bill; 20 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Nena Ramirez.
