Boys basketball roundup: Cathedral notches road win

JACKSON — Jardarius Anderson, Connor Mire and Will Wallace led Cathedral with 13 points apiece as the Green Wave recorded a 74-66 over Mississippi School for the Deaf Bulldogs Tuesday night.
Cathedral led MSD 36-29 at halftime, but the Bulldogs would not go away quietly as they outscored the Green Wave by six in the third quarter to make it a one-point game, 49-48.
D.J. Batteste and William Doss added 12 points apiece for the Green Wave.
Cathedral (13-4) will host Madison St. Joseph at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
ACCS 61, University Academy of CENLA 42
NATCHEZ — Devin Spear led all scorers with 21 points and Brody Cole had 13 points as Adams County Christian School rolled to a 61-42 win over University Academy of CENLA Tuesday night.
ACCS had one of its best first quarters of the entire season in this game as the Rebels dominated University Academy on both ends of the court on their way to a 22-9 lead at the end of the quarter.
ACCS (10-6) returns to MAIS District 4-AAA play at 7:30 p.m. Friday when it hosts Laurel Christian School.
Vidalia 59, Winnfield 49
VIDALIA — Vidalia would not let an off-shooting first quarter deter it as it emerged with a 59-49 win over Winnfield 59-49 Tuesday night in LHSAA District 3-3A action.
Vidalia scored just six points in the first quarter. The Vikings then put the Tigers away with a decisive 23-12 advantage in the second quarter for a 29-16 halftime lead.
Desmond Bindon led the Vikings with a game-high 23 points while Julius Wilson had 11 points. Demarco Brown added 10 points.
Vidalia (7-11, 1-3) plays at Buckeye at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Ferriday 54, General Trass 49
LAKE PROVIDENCE, La. — Dantriez Scott scored 23 points as Ferriday beat General Trass 54-49 in a LHSAA District 2-2A game Tuesday night.
Ferriday led 13-10 at the end of the first quarter, and then doubled up the Panthers 18-9 in the second quarter for a 31-19 halftime lead.
Ferriday (10-5, 1-0) plays host to district opponent Rayville at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Brookhaven 79, Jefferson County 55
BROOKHAVEN — The undefeated Brookhaven Panthers showed Jefferson County why they are the No. 1 team in all of MHSAA Class 5A as they had four players score in double figures en route to a 79-55 win over the Tigers Tuesday night.
The Panthers jumped out to a 23-10 lead after one quarter of play, but Jefferson County managed to cut into the lead in the second quarter and trailed 34-25 at halftime.
Akeem Williams led the Tigers with 18 points and Christian Day ended up with 12 points.
Jefferson County returns to Region 7-3A action at 7:30 p.m. Friday when it plays at Port Gibson.
Delhi Charter 56, Delta Charter 37
DELHI, La. — It was a long, tough road trip for Delta Charter Tuesday night as it fell to Delhi Charter 56-37 in an LHSAA District 2-1A contest.
By the time the first quarter was over, the Storm was staring at a 20-9 deficit. Not even a 14-point second quarter was enough for the visitors from Ferriday as Delhi Charter scored 16 points to lead at the half 36-23.
Dawson Woodruff led the Storm with 16 points.
Delta Charter (1-4 in District 2-1A) hosts district rival Sicily Island Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
