NATCHEZ — Services for Edith Groves Peacock, 87, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, in Baton Rouge, will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Lovely Lane Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Sunday, both at the church.
Mrs. Peacock was born April 14, 1928, in Natchez, the daughter of Malcolm Boyd Groves and Emma Grainger Groves.
She was a charter member of Lovely Lane Methodist Church. She had a master’s degree and taught school for 26 years in the Natchez public school system.
Mrs. Peacock was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Peacock; one brother, Robert Buck Groves; and one niece, Willa Groves Reed.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Peacock Bellan and husband, Larry, of Baton Rouge; two sons, George Peacock Jr. and wife, Joyce, of Austin, Texas, and Robert Peacock and wife, Denise, of Dallas; eight grandchildren, Phillip, Wesley, Mitchell, Joshua and Emma Bellan, Chris and Richard Peacock and Susan Gill; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Peacock and Owen Gill; two nieces, Robbie Lanehart and Dedee Schrock; one nephew, Kevin Smith Sr.; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Bellan, Wesley Bellan, Mitchell Bellan, Richard Peacock, Mike Bellan, Sonny Daniels and Kevin Smith.
Honorary pallbearer will be Chris Peacock.
