Nov. 18, 1946 – Jan. 23, 2016

NATCHEZ — Services for Dr. Linda Wilbourn, 69, of Natchez, who died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Ms. Wilbourn was born Nov. 18, 1946, in Jackson, the daughter of Champion Wilbourn and Marjorie Barnett.

Linda earned an undergraduate degree in accounting from Belhaven University and a doctorate degree in psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi. While that describes the academic side of Linda, her myriad friends knew her for many more qualities. Linda had a sharp, quick wit and always comported herself with style. She had a keen love of travel, having ventured to places such as Ireland, India and Germany, among others.

Those who were fortunate to be amongst her dinner guests will revel in fond memories of her fabulous parties. But mostly, Linda will be remembered for her kind and generous soul.

Ms. Wilbourn was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, Garland Michael Lyell.

Survivors include one brother, Richard Wilbourn of Houston and two cousins, Dr. Joyce Ellis of Colorado and Elaine Robertson of Tennessee.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Bill Cook, Jay Barrier, Dr. Peter Bundgard, Dr. Ben Burke, Philip Zuccaro and William Sandel.
