FERRIDAY — Services for Ezella H. Davis, 97, of Waterproof, who died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at her residence, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Harvest Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Steven Davis officiating.

Burial will follow at Consurella Cemetery in Waterproof under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Davis was born May 6, 1918, in West Point, the daughter of Lafayette and Octavia Heard Hiner.

She was a member of St. John Baptist Church on Lake St. John.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Abe Davis Sr.; and one daughter, Sarah Gray.

Survivors include seven daughters, Octavia Moore of Houston, Mary Petty and husband, Harry, Katye Clark and husband, the Rev. Nathaniel Holmes, Martha Taylor, Linda Arline and husband, William, all of Houston, Texas, and Margaret Allen and husband, Alvin, of Petalunia, Calif.; six sons, Willie Johnson and wife, Billie, and James Davis, all of Waterproof, Cornelius Davis and wife, Patricia, Pollard Davis and wife, Alice, and Abe Davis Jr., all of Houston, and the Rev. Steven Davis and wife, Lora, of Edward, N.C.; 33 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; a special nephew, Arthur Gross; two special friends, Augustine Levy and Herbert Brown, all of Ferriday; and one sister-in-law, Grace Ann Davis.
