FERRIDAY — Services for Ezella Kate Davis, 97, of Lake St. John in Ferriday, who died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at her residence, will be 2 p.m. today at Harvest Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Steven Davis officiating.

Burial will follow at Consurella Cemetery in Lake St. John under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mrs. Davis was born May 6, 1918, in West Point, the daughter of Lafayette “L.L.” and Octavia Heard Hiner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Abe Davis Sr., and one daughter, Sarah Gray.

Survivors include seven daughters, Octavia Moore, Mary Sue Petty and husband, Harry, Katye Clark, Marcie Holmes and husband, the Rev. Nathaniel Holmes, Martha Taylor, Linda Arline and husband, William, all of Houston, Texas, and Margaret Allen and husband, Alvin, of Petalunia, Calif.; six sons, Willie Johnson and wife, Billie, and James Davis, all of Waterproof, Cornelius Davis and wife, Patricia, Pollard Davis and wife, Alice, and Abe Davis Jr., all of Houston, and the Rev. Steven Davis and wife, Lora, of Edward, N.C.; 33 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; a special nephew, Arthur Gross; two special friends, Augustine Levy and Herbert Brown, of Ferriday; one sister-in-law, Grace Ann Davis; and a special nephew, Arthur Gross of Ferriday.
