FERRIDAY — A celebration of life service for Maurice Edward Greer, 71, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at Riverland Medical Center, will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Mr. Greer was born March 18, 1944, in Crosby, the son of Maurice Rymer Greer and Robbie Maxine Greer.
He was a 1962 graduate of Vidalia High School and attended Louisiana Tech with a football scholarship. He earned a master’s degree and taught physical education. He returned to Vidalia to work in construction with his dad.
Maurice loved spending time with his family. He was an avid duck and deer hunter and loved football.
Mr. Greer was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Joel Patrick Greer; and one sister, Janet Sue Greer.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Glenda Greer; one daughter, Stephanie Brumfield and husband, Spanky, of Vidalia; two sons, Edward Greer and wife, Laura, of Oman and Seth Greer and wife, Kellie, of Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Michael Greer of Vidalia; six grandchildren, Sarah Brumfield, Jacob Brumfield, Seth Greer Jr., Henry Greer, Abby Greer and Hannah Greer; nieces and nephews; and a longtime friend, Jim Stringer.
