NATCHEZ — A Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Aubrey Logan, 88, of Alexandria, La., who died Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hixon Brothers Funeral Home in Alexandria.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mr. Logan was a graduate of Forest Hill High School in Jackson. He was selected as “Mr. FHS” and was active in all sports, serving as captain of a number of teams. In his later years, he never missed a baseball, basketball, softball, soccer or football game — he was the No. 1 fan of all his grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Mary Basilica in Natchez. He helped in the renovations of the basilica, including installing a church elevator and the floor of the foyer entrance. He volunteered for a number of historic renovations around the city. Active in the Natchez community, he was selected as an Unsung Hero by the Natchez Democrat in 1986. During his working career as owner of Logan Tile and Marble Company, he completed most of the residential and commercial projects in town, including the courthouse, hospital and a number of plantation homes.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Sally Frances Logan; one daughter, Margaret Logan; his parents, John S. and Annie Laurie Shields Logan; four brothers, Shields Logan, John S. Logan Jr., James Logan and George Logan; and two sisters, May Logan Foley and Katherine Logan Warriner.
Survivors include three daughters, Maryetta Logan Mansour and husband, Dr. Alfred Mansour Jr., Sally Logan Carpenter and husband, Albert “Chip” Carpenter Jr., and Patricia Logan Hilton and husband, Dr. David Hilton; 10 grandchildren, Dr. Alfred Mansour III and wife, Danielle, Aubrey Logan Mansour and wife, Janine, Dr. Ashton Shields Mansour and wife, Georgia, Margaret Mansour and fiancé, Andrew Salem, Kyle Carpenter, Logan Carpenter Senior and husband, Robert, Morgan Shields Hilton, Hayley Hilton and fiancé, Trace Favre, Logan David Hilton and Heath William Hilton; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of other family members and friends.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Donelon and the Compassionate Care Hospice team.
