NATCHEZ — Services for Carl Edwin Hinson, 73, who died Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, at Franklin County Memorial Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Hinson was a 1961 graduate of Vidalia High School, where he was an accomplished quarterback and defensive halfback for the Vidalia Vikings.

Carl spent the majority of his working life in Natchez, serving as a fireman in his earlier years and then as an insurance agent, finishing his career with American General in Jackson.

He was an avid fan of Louisiana State University football and enjoyed gospel music, among other interests.

Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Hinson; his parents, William and Bertha Hinson; and one sister, Jearldean Hinson.

Survivors include six children, Tammy Taylor of Jackson, Todd Hinson and wife, Sue, of Corona, Calif., Chase Hinson and wife, Leslie, of Katy, Texas, Kim Gillian of Meadville, Dawn Martin and husband, Van, of Byram and Carla Hilburn and husband, Daniel, of Argyle, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Paige Taylor, Jordan Taylor, Kincaid Gillian, Taylor Hinson, Reagan Moran, Allen Hinson, Kane Gillian, William Hinson, Dylan Hilburn and London Hilburn; one great-granddaughter, Anberlyn Gillian; two step-grandchildren, Kellie Martin and Joseph Martin; for siblings, Charles W. Hinson and wife, Marie, of Defuniak Springs, Fla., Kenneth R. Hinson of Jackson, Eva H. Williams and husband, Hulon, of Brandon and Dr. Billy G. Hinson and wife, Shirley, of Mobile, Ala.; one niece; and three nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Taylor, John Hinson, Allen Hinson, Kane Gillian, Terry Williams and Chuck Hinson.

The family extends their thanks and great appreciation to the staff at Meadville Convalescent Home and Franklin County Memorial Hospital for their compassionate and professional care.
