GLENBROOK, La. — The Trinity girls squad finished second in the MAIS AA South State tournament, falling to Claiborne Academy 53-49 Saturday.
Despite outscoring Claiborne in three of the game’s four quarters, Claiborne’s 19-10 spurt in the second quarter was enough to secure the win.
D’Asia Mitchell was Trinity’s leading scorer with 19 points. Claiborne got a strong scoring contribution from Maddan Parhan who poured in a game-high 24 points.
With the runner-up finish in the tournament, Trinity will enter next week’s tournament as the No. 2 seed from the South.
