CLAYTON — Services for Augustine Butcher Levy, 95, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark Baptist Church in Clayton with the Rev. Harold Mitchell officiating.
Burial will follow at Consurella Cemetery in Waterproof under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Levy was born Nov. 19, 1920, in Ferriday, the daughter of Tom Butcher Sr. and Mary Ellen Bell Butcher.
She attended St. Matthew Baptist Church and served on the Mother Board. She also was a member of the Tensas-Concordia Parish Usher Circle.
Mrs. Levy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bennie Levy; six brothers; seven sisters; and two sons.
Survivors include one son, Herman J. Levy and wife, Annie, of Lancaster, Texas; seven daughters, Lena Mae Terry and husband, James, of Menifee, Calif., Christine L. O’Neal, Laura Pearman and Edith J. Levy-Owens, all of Lake St. John, Jessie Ann Frazier and husband, Marc, of Vacaville, Calif., Augustine Williams and husband, Ronnie, of Bloomington, Ill., and Wanda Washington of Natchez; two brothers, Frank Butcher and Toby Carlos of Bloomington; 30 grandchildren; 91 great-grandchildren; a number of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and a special friend, Mable Fleming Smith of Ferriday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Matthew Baptist Church, 5792 Highway 569, Ferriday, LA 71334.
