NATCHEZ — Agnes Holloway qualified Wednesday to run for the Ward 6 Alderman seat.

Incumbent Ward 6 Alderman Dan Dillard has also qualified.

The qualification period for the 2016 municipal election opened Jan. 4 and will end March 10.

Incumbent Mayor Butch Brown, former Adams County Board of Supervisors President Darryl Grennell, sitting Ward 4 Alderman Tony Fields and Eric Shaun Junkin have qualified in the race for mayor.

In Ward 1, incumbent Joyce Arceneaux-Mathis qualified for re-election.

In Ward 2, Tamathy Dunn-Franklin, Billy Joe Frazier, and Brian Johnson qualified for the alderman seat recently vacated by Rickey Gray who was elected as an Adams County supervisor late last year.

Sarah Carter Smith qualified for re-election to her seat as Ward 3 alderwoman.

In Ward 4, Jeremy Houston, Edwin White and Felicia Rochelle Bridgewater Irving qualified.

Sitting Ward 5 Alderman Mark Fortenbery and challenger Benjamin Davis have qualified for the Ward 5 seat.

Local attorneys Lisa Jordan Dale and Carmen Brooks qualified to run for Natchez municipal judge, a position for which incumbent Judge Jim Blough has said he will not run.

The partisan primaries will be May 10 and runoffs, if needed, will be May 24.

The general election will be June 7.
