VIDALIA — A parish man is behind bars after allegedly running over someone with his white SUV following a verbal altercation at Illusions Bar early Wednesday morning, said Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Vernon Stevens.
Jeffrey A. Hartley, 45, 1101 B.J. Road, has been charged with attempted manslaughter and simple criminal damage to property.
At about 1:30 a.m., Hartley is alleged to have gotten into his vehicle to leave following an argument with multiple individuals. Stevens said the victim was struck by the SUV, knocked to the ground, and two tires went over the victim.
Stevens could not confirm where on the body the person was run over. Deputies did not report if Hartley had been drinking.
When the ambulance arrived, the victim refused medical care but said he would hitch a ride to the Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday.
Hartley was arrested later that morning without incident. No bond has been set.
