NATCHEZ — Services for Dorothy Ellen Shipp Mulhearn, 76, who died Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at St. James Place in Baton Rouge, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Natchez with the Rev. Walton Jones officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 1:30 p.m. until service at the Trinity Episcopal Church Parish House.
Mrs. Mulhearn was born May 25, 1939, in Eupora, but lived in Natchez for more than 60 years. She was a retired teacher, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a faithful member of both Westminister Presbyterian Church and Trinity Episcopal Church. She was also a devoted member of the Natchez Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Pilgrimage Garden Club, the Scottish Heritage Society and the Scarlett O’Hatters Red Hat Society. Those who knew Dorothy will remember her for putting her heart and soul into caring for numerous cats and dogs throughout her years.
Mrs. Mulhearn was preceded in death by her husband, John Ernest Mulhearn Jr.; her father, Harry Coleman Shipp Jr.; and her mother, Marie Bailey Shipp.
Survivors include her daughter, Lyn Mulhearn Del Caro of Knoxville, Tenn., and husband, Adrian; daughter Rebecca Marie “Becky” Mulhearn Atkeison of Somerville, Tenn., and husband, Mike; son Patrick Mulhearn of Port Allen, La., and his wife, Sarah; grandsons John Michael Atkeison, Anthony Matteo Del Caro, John Ernest “”Jack” Mulhearn III and Owen Quinn Mulhearn.
Pallbearers will be Mike Atkeison, John Michael Atkeison, Adrian Del Caro, Anthony Del Caro, Brian Mulhearn and Jonathan Hungerford.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Baker and Ronnie Williams.
Memorials can be sent to Trinity Episcopal Church, Westminister Presbyterian Church or the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society.
