Good news abundant in the Miss-Lou

The start of the week is forecast to have some gloomy, cloudy skies, but last week good news abounded across the area.
As is our tradition, we pause this morning to look back on some of the great news from our community last week.
-Congratulations are in order for McLaurin Elementary School math teacher Nedra Hackett. Her peers recently selected her as the Natchez-Adams School District’s 2016 Teacher of the Year by her peers. We say thank you for Hackett’s professionalism and the enthusiasm she brings to her work.
-The City of Natchez received a $25,000 solid waste assistance grant from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality last week. The funds could be used to clean up illegal dumpsites in the city or to help educate the public on correct ways to dispose of trash.
-Many thanks to the State of Louisiana for allowing artifacts found at the last known site of the Natchez Indians to be placed on permanent lease to the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians in Natchez. Their generosity allows more people to see objects that were directly created by the last known Natchez people in the area. That’s pretty special, and we’re very happy that the arrangement was allowed.
We hope your week is filled with lots of good news for you and your family.
