NATCHEZ — An Adams County man has been indicted on a charge of murder in connection with a June 2015 shooting at Holiday Apartments.
Lee Raymond Smith Jr., 19, 25 S. Broadmoor Drive, is currently free on a $300,000 bond following his booking at the Adams County Jail over the weekend following the indictment.
Smith, along with his brother Antonio K. Clay, 23, have been charged in connection with the June 19, 2015, shooting of 20-year-old Jamarius Jackson, who was leaning on a car outside Holiday Apartments on Old Washington Road when someone shot him twice.
Jackson died later that evening after being transported to Merit Health Natchez.
The victim had previously had a disagreement with the suspects, police said at the time, and Smith allegedly borrowed a vehicle and picked up Clay to resume the disagreement.
At the time of Smith’s arrest, police said they were able to link the vehicle to the shooting because of dents left by bullets the victim reportedly fired at the suspects after they allegedly started shooting at him.
It is unknown if Clay has been indicted in the case. Indictments remain sealed until they are served against the suspects.
Clay remains in custody at the Adams County Jail on a charge of murder and probation violation. He has no bond set.
