VIDALIA — Services for Alma Gean Brown, 90, of Vidalia, who died Monday, March 14, 2016, at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, La., will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Johnny Elery officiating.03:18 AlmaGBrown obitpic

Burial will follow at the Vidalia City Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brown was born Jan. 11, 1926, in Woodville, the daughter of George and Katie Conrad.

She was employed by Concordia Parish Training School as a nursing assistant. She was retired.

Mrs. Brown was a Baptist and was a member of Rosewood Chapter No. 65 Order of the Eastern Star, Women’s Relief Corps No. 23 and Fidelity Court No. 20 Heroines of Jericho.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnnie Brown Sr.; two sons, Ronald Brown Sr. and Artice Brown Sr.; one brother, James Conrad; and one sister, Emma Williams.

Survivors include three sons, Johnny Brown and wife, Geri, Charlie Brown and wife, Cynthia, and Kevin Brown and wife, Doris; two daughters, Kathy Singleton and husband, Thaddeus, and Karen Marvel and husband, Freddie; and a number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Larry McNulty, Phillip Bowman, Carl Baker, Snetville Polk III, Shaffer Polk and Cornelius Lewis.
