NATCHEZ — Services for Joseph Lavern Sturdivant Jr., 32, of Natchez, who died Thursday, March 17, 2016, will be 3 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster with the Rev. Greg Beaty presiding.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Rosetta Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.

Mr. Sturdivant was born May 21, 1983, in Natchez, the son of Joseph Lavern and Ruth Burnette Sturdivant.

He worked as a deckhand in the oil business.

˙He was preceded in death by his mother of Natchez and grandparents Thomas “Tommy” Sturdivant and Ettie V. Sturdivant.

Survivors include his son, Tristan Sturdivant; daughter, Chloe Sturdivant; father, Joseph Sturdivant; stepfather, Ricky Dale Champlin; grandmother Sally Hart; Christopher Thomas Sturdivant of Woodville; Mandy Halford of Natchez; Roclyn Champlin of Natchez; Claura Cacey Pigot of Natchez; Nicholas Gonzalez; Sylvia Gonzalez; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Todd Simmons, Kyle Williams, Adam Sturdivant, Chris Sturdivant, Wesley Sturdivant and Deven Collier.

Honorary pallbearers are Chris Guidry, Tristan Sturdivant and Chloe Sturdivant.
