JACKSON, La. — Services for Martha “Grannie Grand” Jackson, 80, a native of Richmond, Va., and resident of Jackson, La., who died Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Grace Nursing Home, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Jackson Second Baptist Church in Jackson with the Rev. Benny Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Second Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Charlet Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Martha was born in 1935 in Richmond, Va., the daughter of Chester Joseph and Anna Marie Piersa.
She retired after working for more than 25 years for the State of Louisiana at Villa Feliciana. She loved her family, especially her grandkids. She enjoyed flower gardening, and she was an advocate for the elderly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Freddie Gene Jackson; brother, Joseph Piersa; one daughter, Merrie Rowe; and one grandson, Keith Cavin.
Survivors include five daughters, Theresa Clayton and her husband David of Gloster; Jeannie Cavin and husband, Lev, of Crosby; Carolyn Floyd and husband, Dale, of Gloster; Nancy Payne and husband, Bill, of Norwood, La; Linda Jackson of Livonia, La; one son, Otis Jackson and wife, Samantha, of Crosby; three brothers, Stanly Piersa of Franklin, Va.; William Piersa of Franklin, Va., and Larry Piersa of Seattle, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Cavin, Dale Floyd, Jr., Cody Russell, Shane Russell, Josh Jackson, Adam Rowe, Britt Cavin and Ben Crochet.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rusty Bond, Frank Parker, John Reason, Brad Cavin, Lance Russell and Donny Stokes.
