NATCHEZ — Services for Charles Davis Jones, 62, of Natchez, who died Saturday, March 20, 2016, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Smithland Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 5:45 p.m. today with a celebration of life service at 6 p.m..
Visitation will continue Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mr. Jones was born July 6, 1953, in Natchez, the son of Merrick Jones and Florean White Jones.
He attended Natchez public schools and was employed as a carpenter with Jones Builders.
Mr. Jones was a member of Smithland Baptist Church and served as Sunday school superintendent and deacon.
Charles enjoyed carpentry work, watching the Dallas Cowboys and playing with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Verean Smith, George White, Silas and Excellena Jones and one sister, Ada Lee Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Autman Jones; his parents; three sons, Kenneth D. Jones and wife, Tosha, Christopher S. Jones and wife, Michella, and David Jones and wife, Kyndrea; one brother, J.D. Murray and wife, Mary; three sisters, Lillian Carter, Dorothy Cobbs and husband, William, and Sandra Trimble and husband, Lyndell; 13 grandchildren, Kenneth, Gabrille, Kayla, Laila, Jacoby, Kreyjhana and Harleigh Jones, Harmoni Merrit, Jakani Johnson, Vameshela “Missy” Minor, Tiera, Jordan and Jayden Battle; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
