MONTEREY — Services for Julius Ray “Bobby” Kelly, 85, of Monterey, who died Monday, March 28, 2016, at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Monterey First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Rushing officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Mr. Kelly was born Nov. 7, 1930, in Garsmill, La., the son of John Amon Kelly and Dora Walker Kelly.
He was a member of Monterey First Baptist Church and served as a deacon for 42 years.
J.R. retired from International Paper Company after 42 years as a recovery control room operator.
J.R. will be remembered for his love of witnessing the Gospel to everyone he met. He was an avid hunter and gardener. His greatest love was spending time with his family.
Mr. Kelly was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Glynn Ray Kelly; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Christine Kelly; one son, Raymond Kelly and wife, Jeri Sue, of Ferriday; two daughters, Patsy Kelly Micheau and husband, Glenn, of Monterey and Carolyn Kelly Beach and husband, Gary, of Bastrop, La.; six grandsons, Jamie Kelly, Russell Kelly and wife, Shalene, Corey Jones and wife, Kelli, Chris Jones and wife, Sydney, Josh Beach and Brent Tosspon and wife, Hailey; four granddaughters, Britteney Kelly, Danielle Kelly, Kelli Beach and Valerie Tosspon; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Monterey First Baptist Church.
