NATCHEZ — A Fayette man has been arrested on allegations he had inappropriate sexual contact with a minor.

Ray Charles Stewart, 35, 207 Old U.S. 61, Fayette, was booked into the Adams County Jail Wednesday on a charge of statutory rape.

Reports at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office said Stewart was arrested after the mother of the victim filed a report with the office, telling deputies that her juvenile daughter had told her that “beginning in April 2015, (Stewart) had exposed himself and touched her inappropriately on more than one occasion.

“(The) complainant said she was then told that suspect had intercourse with her.”

The matter was forwarded to ACSO investigators for further investigation.

Stewart was detained Thursday on a $100,000 bond.
