NATCHEZ — Tuesday’s political forum will put all candidates in city elections in front of voters to share their platforms and campaign for votes.
Candidates will appear at the Natchez Convention Center Tuesday evening for a political forum hosted by the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber President Debbie Hudson said she expects to hear from candidates for municipal judge, mayor and every alderman position except for Ward 3, in which Sarah Carter Smith is running unopposed.
The chamber hosts a political forum before every election, Hudson said.
Tuesday’s forum will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will end approximately 8:30 p.m., Hudson said. Tables will be available in the foyer before the event for candidates and political parties who wish to set up an information kiosk.
Each candidate for municipal judge and alderman will be allowed a 2-minute opening statement, will be asked three questions, then will have a 1-minute closing.
Mayoral hopefuls, Hudson said, will likely be asked more questions than other candidates.
“We’ll give everybody a chance to be first and a chance to be last,” Hudson said.
Teri Taylor and Dave “Rosco” Kimbro of First Natchez Radio Group will ask the questions.
Hudson said the questions have not yet been decided. Suggestions for topics and questions can be submitted online at:
