FERRIDAY — Services for John Franklin Sr., 86, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Camelot Leisure Living Home in Ferriday, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Baptist Church, Levee Heights in Ferriday, with the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating.

Burial will follow at the Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Franklin was born Oct. 15, 1929, in Bayou Current, La., the son of Williams and Lillian Vaughn Franklin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Larry, Zan and Robert Franklin; his siblings; two grandchildren, Michelle Lee Allen and Joshua Kimble; and one great-grandchild, Mekhi A. Compton.

Survivors include his wife and companion, Rosie Lee Hooper; 12 children, Rayfield Franklin and wife, Queeny, and Jim Johnson and Judy Johnson, all of Houston, Michael Castle and wife, Janets, of Morrow, La., James Franklin and wife, Betty, and John Franklin and wife, Catherine, all of Jonesville, Anthony C. Franklin, Janets Thompson and husband, Eddie, Helen Baker and husband, Darrow, Warren Neal and wife, Mattie, Lisa Sheppard and husband, Kelvin, all of Ferriday, and Mary Franklin and husband, David, of St. Joseph; nine stepchildren, Johnnie Jackson, Samuel Jackson and wife, Ida Mae, Johnnie Hooper, Elvis Hooper, Shirley Hooper, Jimmy Hooper and wife, Linda, Venora Hooper and husband, Larry, all of Ferriday, Mabel Jackson of Lake Charles, La., and Earl Neal and wife, Vicky, of Natchez; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a very good friend, Willie Turner of Ferriday.
