MONTEREY — The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a body found Friday evening near Monterey.
Concordia Parish Coroner Jim Graves said the remains were found in a wooded area. Graves, who was called to the scene at around 8 p.m. Friday, said he did not examine the body.
Instead, the FACES laboratory of Louisiana State University was called to help Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Deputies investigate the scene, Graves said.
The FACES laboratory websites says it provides free assistance to law enforcement for identification and recovery of human remains.
The Concordia Sheriff’s Office has not provided information on the identity of the deceased person.
Duell Moreland of Monterey has been missing since March 29.
