NATCHEZ — Services for A.D. “Bud” McCary, 92, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at his residence, will be noon Monday at Jefferson Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Kramer officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Mr. McCary was born April 12, 1924, in Baldwyn, the son of James Calvin McCary and Corrie Mae Gower McCary.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, receiving the Philippine Liberation Medal, Theater Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and the Victory Medal. After the war, he received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, his master’s degree from Mississippi State University and his doctorate from the University of Mississippi. He served as dean of Northeast Mississippi Community College and then became the director of institutional research at University of Mississippi and was also a professor of mathematics.
Mr. McCary was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William McCary and James McCary; and one sister, Carol Holley.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Barbara Fugitt McCary; one son, Tim McCary and wife, Penny; one granddaughter, Abagail McCary Washington and husband, Phillip; and one sister, Sara Jane Morris.
Pallbearers will be David Gaude, Mark Godfrey, Butch Johnson, Mitch Scroggins, Jerry Smith and Gray Underwood.
Memorials may be made to the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society or to Jefferson Street United Methodist Church.
