Natchez High girls finish in 2nd place at state meet

PEARL — The Natchez High School track and field team competed in the MHSAA state finals over the weekend.
The Lady Bulldogs finished second in Class 5A with a score of 78, while the boys finished fourth with a tally of 65 points.
Ernesha Chatman finished first in the girls long jump after tallying a leap of 18-00.25, while Freddie Singleton finished first on the boys side with a leap of 22-07.50.
The Natchez girls 4×800-meter relay team finished in second place with a time of 10:27.26.
Shamarra Grover came in second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.77. The senior hurdler also finished second in the 300 hurdles after tallying a time of 45.94.
Malik Byrd finished third in the 400-meter dash after recording a time of 50.59.
Tyrenni Berry finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 35-01.00.
Chatman also finished third in the girls 200 dash with a time of 25.37, and Singleton finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 45-04.00.
The Natchez boys and girls teams each won the South State titles last week.
