Centreville boys win track and field state title

JACKSON — The Centreville Academy boys track and field team placed first in seven events to win the MAIS AAA State track meet Saturday at Jackson Academy.
The Centreville boys scored 133 points.
In field events, Matthew Parnell scored 6-04.00, six inches greater than the second-highest jumper. Austen Addington scored a 14-06.00 score in pole vault.
The Tigers won three relay events. Matthew Parnell, Daniel Vine, Stone Reynolds, Austen Addington, Wyatt Brabham and Devin Parish combined for a time of 1:32.25 in the 4×200-meter relay. Tyler Caston, Devin Parish, Daniel Vine, Austen Addington, Stone Reynolds and Matthew Parnell won the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 44.99. Ian White, Chad Jenkins, Matthew Bihm, Addington, Parnell and Reynolds won the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 3:29.48.
The girls team placed third in class-AAA. Sydnie Lyons took the high jump with a score of 5-03.00.
