VIDALIA — The Vidalia Board of Aldermen voted Tuesday to award a $106,576.76 bid to Camo Construction for improvements to the city’s water plant.

The bid, the lower of two offered, is to fix the roof, flooring and beams in the part of the plant that was installed in the 1970s that have started to rust and deteriorate because of the exposure to water treating chemicals through the years, Vidalia Utility Director Mark Morace said.

The other bid for the project was submitted by Womack and Sons Construction, and was for $107,085.
