NATCHEZ — Animal control officials are warning residents two dogs reportedly mauled a cat in the downtown area.

Animal control officer Randy Myers said he received a report from a resident who said two golden retrievers or a similar breed of dog mauled a cat in the area of Stanton Hall on High Street.

“That’s why we have a leash law, to keep that kind of thing from happening,” he said.
