Cathedral loses Game 2 of MAIS AAA championship series to Silliman 5-2

CLINTON, La. — Brian Siebert launched a three-run homer to deep left field for Silliman Institute in the bottom of the eighth inning, and the Wildcats walked off with a 5-2 win over Cathedral High School to force a third game in the MAIS AAA championship series.

Game 3 start time is set for approximately 6:55 p.m.

Cathedral was down 2-0 in the sixth inning when Brock Farmer grounded into a fielder’s choice that scored Andrew Beesley. Craig Bradley came around to score after an errant throw on the play.
Silliman threw out a pair of lefties. starter Ryder Lockhart pitched six innings, striking out three batters and allowing just three hits. Odom Stagg pitch the final two innings in relief and stranded two runners on one hit.

Two players accounted for all of Cathedrals hits. Andrew Beesley was 2-4 with a pair of singles and run scored . Jacob Jenkins was also 2-4 with two singles.

Cathedral pitcher Gabe Smith pitched 7.1 innings allowing five earned runs while striking out three batters.

Silliman scored solo runs in each of the second and third innings before Cathedral managed to tie the game in the sixth.

The Wildcats got on the board in the second after Smith balked in a run. Silliman then took a 2-0 advantage following Zach Kelly’s solo home run.
